What Happens During the Donation Process?

REGISTRATION

You must bring photo I.D. (driver’s license) or two forms of alternate I.D. (social security card, voter registration, insurance card, etc.)

PHYSICAL

To determine your eligibility to donate blood, LIFELINE staff will check your temperature, blood pressure, hemoglobin level, and pulse.

MEDICAL HISTORY QUESTIONNAIRE

In a private booth, you will answer a series of medical history questions. When you are finished, a staff member will review the questionnaire with you.

DONATION

In a comfortable chair, you will give blood. This only takes about 5 to 20 minutes.

REFRESHMENTS

You will be given a snack and something to drink. This will help you re-hydrate. After 10 - 15 minutes, you are finished.
